Circle Of Life Butterfly Card And Heart Flower Card

Another two cards to share again today even though the weekender is now over on Create and Craft lots of you will soon be getting these through your letterboxes.  They really are lovely stamps and the dies, of course, are amazing quality as you have come to expect from Tonic Studios.

For my butterfly card I have layered my 7" x 7" card with turquoise and white, rounding all the corners before adding the Indulgence Tea Party Base Die in turquoise.  The wording is from the Expressions Sentiment die set and was cut in a darker teal colour and white before being shadowed and glued to the card centre.  The butterflies were also cut from Teal and white and each one had the pattern dies cut in the white layer.  They were glued together and stuck in a circle around the sentiment.  I added some organza ribbon around the spine of the card and finished with a matching bow.

My heart card was just an 8" x 8" shop bought card blank, I layered with some Lily of the Valley papers and some bright green behind it with a tiny edge showing.  I layered white onto the front of my card and cut one of the Camellia Layering dies.  I stamped and die cut three of the Floral Hearts, curled them and glued the points to the centre of the flower.  I die cut three with the matching pattern die, curled those and added them in the same way but making sure you could see the previous layer of hearts, the flower centre was cut from the smallest two layers of the Camellia Layering Die set.  I added the Fronde Finesse die and cut the wording out of the matching patterned paper and the bright green, shadowing them to make it stand out.  I added some Nuvo Crystal Drops to the flower centres and the top corner.

Heart Wedding Dress and Butterfly Resist Background

Because we only have the Heart and Butterfly dies and stamps as a weekender on Create and Craft I thought I'd show one of each again.

For the Heart Wedding Dress, I debossed my card blank which gave me texture but a lot of flat surface to enable me to stick my layers down.  I cut a frame from the recent Craftinator dies, the Art Nouveau Ovals with a blue backing layer.  I cut the Vine Heart out seven times and layered them from the bottom up, overlapping as I went.  After sticking the top one in place I added a small hand tied bow to cover the last visible join.  I cut a strip of blue card for the side and layered my ribbon onto it, added a hand tied bow and one of the small sentiments from the Idyllics Die sets.  I finished off with some wedgewood blue Nuvo Crystal Drops.

For this card I created the background paper first.  I took a sheet of supersmooth card and stamped the Juliet Butterfly stamp randomly onto it using a Versamark clear pad.  I covered these with clear embossing powder and heat embossed them.  Once they were cooled, I inked the sheet with Dusty Concord Distress Ink which I applied with an Inkylicious Duster Brush and when I had a covering I was pleased with, adding more in some areas than others, I rubbed the ink from the top of the clear embossed butterflies giving my my resist background which I cut down to size to fit my A5 card blank, sticking on top of a dark purple layer.  I layered some of the matching purple and white card into the left side of the card and stamped the Felicity and the Laura Butterflies die cutting each one using all of the outer edges and leaving the last one plain white and die cutting the centre with the Laura inner pattern die.  The die cuts were stuck in place on the strip.  The 'for you' was die cut from the pillow box set out of the matching purple and white, shadowed and glued onto the card front on the bottom corner.  A few Nuvo Crystal Drops in Wisteria were added to the butterfly bodies and the top and bottom corners on the right of the card.

Don't forget to catch the live shows for more demonstrations today at 11am, 2pm and 7pm

Rococo Butterflies and Hearts Tonic Weekender

As it's only a weekender on Create and Craft I thought I'd share a couple of cards showing each design.

Here are my butterflies:

I sanded the embossed Martha background and die cut the large Deco Oval Trellis as well as the large Deco Oval layer before sticking them to the card front.  I die cut the butterflies and stamped the centre one, sanding the patterned layers back for a little definition.  I die cut a small sentiment from the Idyllics range and again sanded that before layering it and adding to the card front

And my hearts:

I made an easel card out of the Indulgence Affections dies adding a couple of the layers, I made the bride and groom out of the die cut hearts, adding a peach heart behind the layered brides dress for the skin and cutting into the jacket of the grooms suit and adding a small hand cut bow tie and a hand tied silver satin bow.  The 'stop' was layered and sruck in place on a double layer of foam pads.

Enjoy the shows over the weekend

Celtic Dream Circles Baby Pram Gift Box

Good morning, this morning I thought I'd just add some quick instructions for making the Baby Pram Gift Box.  It's very simple but very pretty all the same.

Supplies:

Celtic Dream Layering Circle Die Set
New Baby Sentiment Die Set
3 A4 sheets pink card
3 A4 sheets white card
1 A3 sheet white card
plus anything you need for decoration

1.  Cut two of the second size down circle outline in white and two in pink

2. Cut the matching pattern die into each of the pink circles.

3. Stick the pink patterned circles onto the white circles for stability.

4. Find the centre of the circles and cut straight up and straight across which gives you the 90 degree angle that you need for the pram opening.

5. Cut a 6" strip of card from the A3 sheet along the length and score a 1" line at either side, fold this and cut wedges out equally along the length of either side, this allows your piece of card to curve easily to be stuck in place.

6. I used a glue gun to stick my long length of card in place because it dries pretty much instantly but if you do use one please be aware that it can't be moved, once it's stuck, it's stuck firm.  So, using your preferred method of adhesion, stick the flaps you just created by snipping into the length of card onto the edge of the circles, starting at one of your cut edges and taking the strip of card right the way along to the other cut edge, I found that mine fitted perfectly without needing to trim any off at all which was a nice surprise!  Wait for this to dry properly before you stick the other side on, it will make it a lot easier to handle.

7. Line up your other circle so it matches the first one that you stuck in place, add your preferred glue to the flaps and stick it in to position.  Again, you need this to dry before going any further.

8. Cut four small white circles and four small pink circles adding the pattern to the pink ones.

9. Layer these together and attach them to the bottom edge of your pram as the wheels on either side.

Your basic pram box is now finished, it's up to you how you decorate it.  For either side of the hood I used a 22cm length of card that I scored at 1cm intervals, I then folded these like a concertina, gluing the very bottom of them together to make a portion of a rosette which I then glued into place on the side of my pram box adding a rolled flower by cutting a spiral into a small pink circle, rolling it up from the outside edge and gluing this together.  I also trimmed down the Baby Girl sentiment out of the New Baby Sentiment die set just leaving the word 'baby' which fitted perfectly into my available space.

I hope this helps, if, however, you need any more information, please let me know and I'll try and get another made up to show you.

Tonic Craftinator - Shutter and Large Layering Die Sets

As it's launch day for a brand new product at Tonic Studios I have decided to show you a few cards that I have made with the new Indulgence Shutter Dies and the Large and Regular Layering Die Sets.

First I wanted to show you a simple Shutter Style card that Jodie made this morning on the 8am show.  This was very simple and needed very little measuring, in fact I just scored each end on the DL line on my score board and placed my shutter die at the 5cm mark as described in the packaging.

Dies used:

Indulgence Shutter Liberty Die Set
Square Layering Dies
Rococo Butterfly Sprig
Just For You Pansy Topper Die Set
Buttermilk and Antique Rose Nuvo Crystal Drops

The next card I wanted to show you is using the Large Layering Die Sets.  For this one I fashioned a baby bib out of the Art Nouveau Large Ovals.

Dies used:

Art Nouveau Oval Layering Dies
New Baby Sentiment Die Set
Emily Frame and Corners

Finally I'd like to show you one of the cards I made using the regular sized Elegant Oval Layering Dies.  This was simply layered on a fold back card.

Dies used:

Elegant Oval Layering Die Set
Deco Oval Trellis Die Set
Celtic Dream Collectables Die Set
Idyllics Diamond Trellis Die Set (sentiment)
Idyllics Garland Fancy Die Set (embossed background)

I hope these cards give you some inspiration as to what can be created with these amazing new die sets.

Sentiment Panels - Sweet 16 Love

Hello again, for today's card I cut a stepper card out of a sheet of brown card.  I cut the Love Sentiment Panel in  cream and pink, cutting the pattern die out of the cream layer.  I glued them together and added a little Glossy Accents to give a subtle effect to the letters.

I cut the large and small borders from the Celtic Dream Collectables die set and added them to the card, the 16 was from the Pop Up Occasions die set and the heart sentiment was from the Someone Special Indulgence Affections Insert die set.

The card was finished off with some Buttermilk Nuvo Crystal Drops and a hand tied double bow.

With Love New Home Card - Sentiment Panels

Another busy week with the children off school so I thought I would share this card I made while I've got 5 minutes!!

I made the cream pearlescent card blank and layered with gold mirror card before adding a matching cream pearlescent layer.  I cut two Emily corners from gold mirror card and added those to the prepared card front.  The Home Sentiment Panel was embossed onto another piece of matching cream and also cut out of matt gold card.  The cream one was cut out by hand and the gold one was glued on top, it was inked very lightly and mounted onto the card front with 3d foam pads.  I cut the couple, the heart frame and a backing from the First Dance Silhouette die set and layered these, popping some 3d foam behind before adding them to the card front.  I finally cut the With Love sentiment from the Pillow Box die set in gold mirror and cream, shadowing them before adding them to the card.  I finished the card off with some Nuvo Crystal Drops in Bright Gold.

Sentiment Panels Good Luck In Your New Home Card

Today I have another card to show you which I made using the new Tonic Studios Sentiment Panels.

I used cream to make my card base scoring at the DL line on my score board and layering both the front and the inside with red then kraft card.  I cut the Home Sweet Home panel in the same cream card and paper pieced the door, curtains, hearts and bird, finally adding the roof, all out of red.

The gingham ribbon was edged with cream cotton lace before being stuck down on the inside, one of the sentiment toppers was lightly inked on the edges and added on top of this strip with a matching bow.  The good luck letters were cut from the Pretoria Duocap sets and were glued in place down the exposed edge of the card base.  The card was finished off with a bow on the front  tied from the cotton lace and a few Nuvo Crystal Drops in Bright Gold.

I hope you like it,
