Bellus Buttercup Valentine Roses with Lacy Glittered Background

It's almost Valentines day so I thought I'd share this card I made using some of the new Tonic Studios flower dies that were in the POTD on Ideal World throughout the day yesterday.

I made a square card blank out of a sheet of black A4 card, I added a layer of red card cut with the largest Threading Scallop Layering die.

For the glittered background I used a scrap of flowery lace that I had lying around, it's best not to use anything that you want to use for anything else as the glitter really sticks in the fibres as it is so fine.  I covered a piece of card larger than I wanted with double sided tape stuck really close together, you can't have any gaps.  Ideally you would use double sided sticky film but I didn't have any to hand so made do with what I had.  Take the covering off your tape/film and stick the lace down making sure all the sticky areas are covered, tip the glitter that you want as your background colour, in this case Charcoal Pure Sheen Glitter by Nuvo and rub this in with your finger tips.  Shake off the excess onto a piece of scrap paper and empty back into the bottle.  Now for the messy bit!  Peel the lace off (the glitter thats left kind of jumps off it!), add your second colour of glitter I used Ruby Red Pure Sheen Glitter and again, rub it in with your fingers, tip off the excess and put it back in the bottle.  Using one of the Layering Square dies, cut the appropriate size to fit inside your scalloped layer, cut and stick in place.

Die cut the Indulgence Affections First Crush outer edge die in black and red and cut the pattern into the red layer, repeat with the smaller layer gluing them together and layering the smaller on top of the larger with 3d foam pads but sticking it onto your glittered layer with either silicone glue or Pinflair glue as nothing else really sticks to glitter.

To make the roses, I cut all the flower dies apart from the largest one three times out of a thin card, curved the edge of my petals with my bone folder the placed them the right way up on my shaping mat from the Floral Crafters Tool Set and using one of the large embossing tools curled the petals up from the centre by embossing in circles.  The rest of the layers were shaped in the same way and stuck together with a wet glue before being stuck just under the heart with silicone/Pinflair Glue.

I hope you like this,
