Tonic Studios Woodland Buildables - Frankie Fox And Happy Birthday Banner

Good afternoon all,

I want to share another of my Buildables makes today while they are still available as the One Day Wonder deal on Create and Craft.  I made a simple layered card this time, with some pretty patterned paper I've had in my stash for absolutely ages.  It went perfectly with the colours I'd chosen for Frankie :)

I folded a sheet of 300gsm cream card for my base and topped that with the a layer of the Orange shade of card out of the Heated Hues Essential 12 x 12 Card Stock Pack - 787E.  I die cut the outer edge from the Ribbon and Bows Layering Die Set - 1461E out of patterned paper and also out of the dark brown from the Natural Neutrals Essential 12 x 12 Card Stock Pack - 789E.  I cut the brown layer in half and glued both to the patterned paper layer so they can be seen either side, I use this type of layering a lot if my layering dies are too far apart in size :)  I cut the next size outer edge from the same layering die set from the dark brown again along with the Ivory colour from the same pack and did the same again, letting the dark layer show either end.  I glued both of these layers together and attached to my card base with 3d foam pads.

I cut the fox body, snout, ears, paws and tail out of the same orange we used for the card layer, cutting the head, tummy, inner ear pieces and tail tip out of cream.  I added a little distress ink to these for a little definition, glueing them all together in their respective order, adding the nose and eyes in the matching dark brown card.  I added some 3d foam onto the back of Frankie Fox and glued him in place on the layer.

I cut the Essentials Banner - 1594E  out of Ivory and the Happy Birthday Sentiment -  out of Dark Brown along with the number 5 and the 'th' out of the Essentials Birthday Numbers - 1592E.  Layering this onto my card with 3d foam pads for depth.  I finished my card off with some bunting cut from the Rococo Celebration Birthday Bundle - 1490E layered in dark brown and patterned paper.

I hope you like this and can tune in for the rest of the One Day Wonder shows at 6pm and 9pm for lots more inspiration.

Woodland Buildable Animals Die Sets - Harry The Hedgehog on A Handmade Note Book

Hello, thanks for popping by to have a look at another of the fantastic Buildable Woodland Animal Die Sets.  Today I've chosen Harry the Hedgehog, for this sample I made for the launch on Create and Craft tomorrow.

I kept this fairly simple as I think the little critter is all this needs :)

To make the notebook I started off with a sheet of A3 card, as thin as you can get, about a 160gms would be perfect although I had slightly thicker here so I used it up.  I folded the sheet of card in half, opened it up, then folded in half again the other way.  Open this up again and you will have four segments, fold these into the centre line until you get this
Cut along the fold lengthways, only cutting along 3 panels, leave the last one in tact.  Fold this last panel and glue in place, this is the middle page of your note book.  Fold the rest of the pages in an accordian style either side of this middle page, starting with a valley fold, so you have valley, mountain, valley either side.  Where you have the mountain fold, you need to glue the 2 sides together to keep this in place. Once this is done you should have the second and third panels glued together, fourth and fifth glued together and sixth and seventh glued together with a single thickness sheet for the first and last! This sounds an awful lot more complicated than it should.... lol its pretty much self explanatory once you start.  Now you need to add a cover so measure the height of your book which is just under 15cm which is just under 6" in old money.... Cut down a sheet of Craft Perfect Kraft card - 9558E lengthways to this measurement and glue on to one of your single sheets, wrap it around the spine of your book to keep your pages together giving a little room so you'll be able to open up your pages and glue to the other single sheet then trim off the excess.   I distressed this with an inking brush and some distress inks.
I cut one of the layers from the Swirling Frame Layering Die Set - 1462E out of some lined papers I had in an old scrapbooking pad I had, I popped one on the front to place the hedgehog on and glued one to each of the pages inside.

I cut the body from the lighter brown in the Craft Perfect range and inked just to define the embossed detail, I cut the rest of the pieces from two shades of light Craft Perfect, Ivory White and Cream, with his nose out of the Dark Grey as well as his eyes.  Because I use a Tangerine Die Cutting Machine it easily goes through two layers of card so I found I could cut the little ears at the same time, just to save time :)  I distressed the pieces to make them stand out and glued all of them flat to the body before popping it on to the cover of my book with some 3d foam pads.  I added the word 'notes' using the Clarice Lower Case Letter Die Set -1123E and some Nuvo Crystal Drops in Autumn Red - 683N

If you have any Questions about how I made the book or indeed put the hedgehog together, please get in contact :)

Sneaky Peek - Tonic Studios Buildables One Day Wonder Thursday 2nd Create and Craft

Evening crafters, well, if these are not the cutest dies ever made from Tonic Studios then I don't know what is!!!!  The Buildables Collection is a set of 'put together' animal dies.  They are a sizable die cut when made up and are amazing as the main focus on your card or project.  There is Olivia Owl, Betty Bunny, Frankie Fox and Harry Hedgehog.  Today I'm going to share a little project I made with the bunny :)

I used the Tent Gift Bag from the Keepsake Range - 623E.  It may be an old die but it is a favourite of mine.  I also used just parts from the Betty Bunny Die Set along with one of the sentiments from the Pillow Box Die Set - 370E and a small layering die from the Eastern Oyster Die Set - 1451E

I cut the Tent bag out of the light grey from the Gracious Grey Essential Card Pack - 790E and also the Head, the ears, the legs and the paws.  I cut the ears again out of white from the Monochromatic Essential Card Pack - 791E along with the teeth, the tail and the layering die.  The 'for you' was cut from two shades of pink out of the Magnificent Magentas Essentials Card Pack - 786E.

I filled the bag with chocolate raisins labelled as bunny poo.... lol they still taste delicious.... :)  I closed the bag with a Velcro/Hook and Loop fastening.

Please join us on Thursday for more inspiration and demonstrations on Create and Craft for the One Day Wonder for these fabulous dies and of course over the next few days the Design Team will all be sharing their incredible makes.

I hope you like this and it inspires you to create something wonderful yourself.

Brrr.... So cold.... Here's Another Bendy Card - Tangled Terrace Window Box Die Set

Morning All, well it's a chilly but beautifully sunny day down here in South Wales today :)   I'd like to share a card that I made using the new Tonic Studios Window Box Die Collection, this one is using the Tangled Terrace

Along with the Tangled Terrace - 1563E, I also used the leaf spray from the Autumnal Oak Die Set - 1431E, the Best Wishes Miniature Moment Die - 1242E, Layered Leaves Embossing Folder - 1442E

I started off with a 6 x 6 card blank, I cut myself some layers, brown 5 3/4 x 5 3/4 and blue 5 1/2 x 5 1/2.  I embossed the blue layer then distressed the edge with some Burnished Bronze Nuvo Embellishment Mousse - 814N which I applied with an inking brush to give me a nice soft effect.  I lined my layer up on my card front before I cut the slit with the Window Box Slit Die - 1564E as I wanted my front curved elements to be right at the bottom of the card, not just the bottom of the layer.  I cut my main curved pieces from brown and added the detail cuts to the blue verso layer which I again distressed with the Nuvo Mousse.  I added my curved card pieces to the actual card blank so I knew it would stand up properly.  You could decorate this anyway you like but I chose the Autumn Leaves Collection to tie in with the foliage on the Verso detail die.  I cut the leaf spray in cream and brown, distressing the cream die cut with the Mousse and the same with the Best Wishes sentiment.  I attached these to the card front with my trusty Funky Glue Pen - 421E and added a pretty brown and cream gingham bow.  A nice simple card finished off with some Buttermilk Nuvo Crystal Drops - 652N

Hope you like it :)

Along with the Tangled Terrace Window Box Die Set I also used The Rococo Nursery Mobile which I paper pieced, layered and coloured with Nuvo Embellishment Mousse and the Miniature Moments Little Princess Die which was also coloured with the Mousse.

Tonic Studios Christmas Frames

The Christmas Frames that are going to be the Pick Of The Day on Ideal World this evening are beautiful.  The are Verso Die sets so there is a lot of versatility with them.  Here are a couple of cards I made using the dies.

This card is made using the Candy Cane Die Set along with the Holly Sprig from the Mini Wreath Decorations Rococo Die as well as the sentiment from the  'Tis The Season Wreath Set.

For this card I made a simple Teepee/Pyramid card and added the Holly Vine Die Set which I finished off with one of the sentiments from the Winter Wonderland Premium Paper Pack.

This time I used the Mistletoe Wreath Die Set along with Regal Frame Die Set.

Join Jo at 9pm and throughout the day tomorrow for more hints, tips and inspiration.

Tonic Studios Gesture Box

Ok so I'm a little behind in my blogging again but life is so busy!!

Here's a couple of little dinky Gesture Boxes I made for the weekend shows on Create and Craft

For this one I stuck two if the gesture box die cuts together but I cut off one of the flaps.  I added the hearts to the front and back to cover the joins for a different shape.
This one has two stuck together again but this time keeping both boxes intact and gluing the bases together.
This example is actually made with eight box die cuts.  The first two are stuck together to form a cube and the rest of them are decorated and stuck on to each of the cube's faces.

The die is so simple to decorate and looks fabulous with or without the lace inserts, it will fit a Ferrero Rocher perfectly too :)
